In August 2013, the first Military School opened its door to young and determined dental technicians and trainees. Based on the educational concept of Zirkonzahn’s founder, MDT Enrico Steger, this school became a success, earning the 1000th dog tag in February 2023.
“Military School”: for some, the choice of the name will cause confusion. What does dental technology have to do with the military? Enrico Steger, MDT and founder of Zirkonzahn, explains the reasons behind this choice by saying that the strict training of the army contains certain elements that can prepare young people for working life. During training, dental technical contents will replace the military ones, whereas characteristics such as teamwork, simplicity, humility, discipline, loyalty and diligence are emphasised. These are the necessary virtues for the professional life of a dental technician.
At the Military School, participants from all over the world come to the Aurina Valley, in South Tyrol (Italy), to expand their education in a spartan, but at the same time modern and comfortably furnished accommodation. The courses focus on manual modelling, Zirkonzahn’s CAD/CAM software, virtual articulation, 3D facial scanning with the Face Hunter, Prettau® Bridge manufacture and much more. The course instructors guide the trainees through the demanding programme with great competence and collegiality. Only through a constant repetition of the individual steps, the learned content is truly mastered. With the available state-of-the-art technology and under the guidance of experts, the Military School offers the opportunity to develop professional skills that are useful for personal growth.
The uniform and the common activities will also help to create a strong and well-established group bond. After five demanding but satisfying days, the young dental technicians will return to their daily lives motivated and inspired, applying the skills they have just learnt. As the thousands of participants testify, this is what makes the Military School a great success!
