Genix Healthcare has been recognised for its outstanding contribution in furthering the careers of young people by winning the Medium Employer of The Year at the National Apprenticeship Awards. On the night, an all-star line up of over 1,200 businesses including defence technology giants through to florists battled it out for just 15 of these coveted accolades. Not only were the dental group outright winners in the Medium Employer’s category, they also placed in the top 100 Apprenticeship Employers in the UK, compiled by the National Apprenticeship Service and sponsored by City & Guilds. On the awards, Nick Boles, Minister of State for the Department of Business, Innovation & Skills, gave the following statement: “This year’s Top 100 was hugely competitive with even more leading employers developing world class apprenticeship programmes that deliver the skills Britain needs. “All of the Top 100 employers know that apprenticeships and traineeships don’t only provide life changing opportunities and routes into work for young people, but they also deliver real results for business.”
After genix healthcare providing proof that their apprenticeship schemes have positively contributed towards the organisation and the careers of its staff, hundreds of entrants were judged according to two key areas:
• businesses that grow their own talent with apprenticeships
• apprentices who have made a
significant contribution to their
workplaces
As Chair of the Government Trailblazer Project in dental health, Mustafa Mohammed – Managing Director of Genix Healthcare and Sparkle Dental Labs – ensured that the dental group was the first to employ dental nurses on these schemes in 2011. Today, the group also offers Trailblazer Apprenticeships for Dental Practice Managers, Dental Technicians and Dental Laboratory Assistants.
THE genix healthcare NATIONAL WINNER AWARD Led by Mustafa, the Trailblazers initiatives within dentistry owe their success to their high standards, which have been set by respected organisations such as King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, The ADG (Association of Dental Groups) and the DTA (Dental Technologists Association). Mustafa is also a forward thinker, addressing skills shortages within the profession for the long-term sustainability of dentistry within the UK. Speaking of the Trailblazers apprenticeship for dental
technicians, Mustafa commented: “Employers who are now able to ‘grow their own’ talent, will as a result, help combat the falling numbers of British technicians, strengthening the dental industry and the UK economy”.
